What is the Scooter Town Rental Protection Plan?

Our Rental Protection Plan is an optional add-on that limits your responsibility if a rented mobility scooter, wheelchair, or other equipment is accidentally damaged, stolen, or lost during your stay. It’s designed to give travellers peace of mind and avoid unexpected repair or replacement costs.

Do I have to purchase the protection plan?

Accepted Answer

No — it’s completely optional, though we recommend it for extra peace of mind. If you decide not to include it, you’ll be fully responsible for any loss, theft, or damage up to the full replacement value of the item.

What situations are covered?

The plan offers protection for: • Accidental damage that happens during normal, careful use (for example, scratches or small broken parts). • Theft, provided the scooter or wheelchair was properly secured and used as intended. • Total loss coverage, up to the item’s retail value, with supporting documentation and a police report. • Weather-related damage, if the item wasn’t left outdoors overnight or exposed to unsafe conditions. It’s an easy way to protect yourself against life’s small surprises while travelling.

What’s not included in the coverage?

This plan does not cover: • Damage from negligence, misuse, or rough handling (such as forcing hinges or leaving equipment in the rain). • Theft if the scooter or wheelchair was left unattended or unlocked. • Intentional or fraudulent claims. • Missing accessories like chargers, keys, baskets, or seat cushions. • Medical expenses or personal injuries — these require your own travel insurance. This plan is limited to the rented item itself and does not replace standard insurance coverage.

How much does the plan cost?

Accepted Answer

The fee is a small percentage of your rental total, displayed at checkout before you confirm your booking. It’s a one-time, non-refundable charge that covers your entire rental period.

Question 6

What should I do if something happens to the scooter or wheelchair?

If your equipment is damaged, lost, or stolen, please contact us right away at hello@scootertown.es. For theft, a police report is required. For accidents or damage, please provide photos and a short explanation so we can handle your claim quickly and fairly.

Question 7

What if I choose not to take the protection plan?

Accepted Answer

You can still rent without it, but you’ll be financially responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of the equipment — up to full retail value. Because scooters and powered wheelchairs are high-value items, we strongly recommend adding the protection plan at checkout.

Question 8

Does this plan include personal or medical insurance?

Accepted Answer

No. This is not an insurance product. It’s a limited damage waiver that reduces your liability if the equipment is damaged or stolen. It doesn’t cover personal injury, third-party damages, or travel disruptions. For that, you’ll need separate travel insurance.

Question 9

How long does the protection last?

Accepted Answer

The plan is active only during your rental period. It starts when your equipment is delivered and ends once it’s collected. It can’t be transferred or refunded after activation.

How can I add it to my booking?

Accepted Answer

Simply select “Rental Protection Plan” at checkout on our website. The protection fee will be added automatically to your total before payment.
